I'm interested in your studio! What are my options?

Thanks for asking! I offer two services:

Content: I’d be delighted to produce a feature for your site. This can look like anything you see here or elsewhere or saw in a dream–the world is our oyster.

You either can come with a specific need (“a map of the everglades with icons for protected species”) or a vague ambition that we can dream up together. (“I’d like to show the results of the National Dog Show, and I need help gathering the data and ideas on how to visualize it.”) I can deliver a project from soup to nuts or integrate with in-house researchers, designers, reporters, etc.

Consulting: If your organization is expanding its multimedia operations in any way, I’ll happily share what I know. (Including places not to waste time and money.) We can have a preliminary chat to identify where I can be of help.

May I ask how much it costs?**

You may! For content, the rate is $300/hour, which I’ll bake into a fixed quote at the outset. (Bear in mind that half of this goes to taxes and another fair portion to my one-year-old!) I estimate conservatively and can usually generate a ballpark quote off the top of my head and follow up promptly with a formal one. Modest discounts for news media and not-for-profits. For large projects we’ll break it up into deliverable pieces to avoid mission creep.

For consulting, my fee is $250/hour. We can knock this down if you’d like to book a fixed number of hours ahead of time or a recurring schedule.

I’m sold, but my CTO never lets us do anything fun**

Let me talk to them! Any code I deliver is both secure and self-contained, and there are many ways we can safely get it on your platform. I can always host it here (without displaying it) and give you embed code if that’s easiest.
